With their flat heel, sewing machine needles fit most electrically-powered household sewing machines. You can check in the manual that your machine accepts needles with a heel reference 130/705H.
Jersey sewing machine needles are numbered 70, 80 and 90. This corresponds to the diameter of the needle at the eye, expressed in 100ths of a millimeter. A 90 needle is 90/100 millimeters in diameter at the eye. The important thing to remember: the higher the number, the larger the needle and the greater its capacity to penetrate thick fabrics.
So be sure to adapt your thread! We recommend using denim thread, which is particularly well-suited to this type of cotton weave. You'll also get the famous contrasting color of seams and topstitching.
Jersey is the easiest stretch fabric to sew. The fabric's elasticity is achieved by knitting rather than weaving. A true jersey is stretchable in only one direction, the width. If the jersey is made from stretch yarn, it will be a stretch fabric, stretchable in both directions. The challenge for a stretch fabric is to retain its elasticity.
